The Museum of Croydon (formally Lifetimes, 1995 – 2004) re-opened in September 2006, following a £1 million investment from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Located in Croydon Clocktower, the borough’s cultural venue, the Museum of Croydon tells the story of Croydon from 1800 to the present day, through the objects and memories of local people.

People with an interest in local and family history can explore the treasures of the Local Studies Library & Archives. The Clocktower also contains the borough’s central library, David Lean Cinema and Braithwaite Hall, a live performance space, as well as the Clocktower Cafe. The Clocktower complex is adjacent to Queen’s Gardens, a popular, oasis of calm in the centre of Croydon.
