Less than two weeks till 'London Histories' at the Whitechapel Gallery |
On September 14 the Whitechapel Gallery in London's East End will host a special CultureLine panel discussion to explore how London’s myriad small areas acquire their distinct and fascinating characters. A panel of well-known writers, artists and historians chaired by writer and BBC London broadcaster Robert Elms will discuss the way the capital has evolved over the centuries to absorb cultures and peoples from all over the globe. Panellists include the photographer Tom Hunter, acclaimed writer Iain Sinclair and arts writer and columnist Liz Hoggard.

Cultural habits of north and south Londoners revealed by CultureLine poll |
|
54% of Londoners living north of the River Thames never venture south for either work or cultural pursuits and south Londoners are twice as likely to cross the river for culture. That’s according to a survey of 300 Londoners from both sides of the river published today (23 July) by CultureLine, a partnership of 10 museums and galleries along the new London Overground East London route.
