See the Eighth Wonder of the World on the CultureLine!

150 years ago this week, Brunel’s London ship SS Great Eastern first crossed the Atlantic and, to celebrate, this Saturday the museum is holding a party across the Thames on the launch ramps. Meet Brunel ‘in person’, learn about archaeology on the Thames foreshore and make a Brunel hat.

Brunel will be at Masthouse Terrace Pier at 11am for guided tours of the launch ramps of the SS Great Eastern. Alternatively, you can meet Brunel at the Brunel Museum at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm, where you can go on a tour of the Grand Entrance Hall, which is open again after 140 years and once led to the world’s first underwater shopping arcade, a fairground and banquet Hall. Tickets for the Grand Entrance Hall cost £5, available on the day at the Museum. For more information on summer events along the CultureLine, visit our events section.
